Shalini Natesan

Shalini Natesan focuses her practice in the areas of Business Law, Hospitality Law, Municipal Law, Real Estate Law, Not-For-Profit Law and Tax Law.
Ms. Natesan is equipped with over 10 years of experience in Corporate Law and has handled business matters, such as change of ownership, buy-sell agreements, drafting the necessary documents for all business and corporate formations and transactions, while also creating subsidiary entities to handle specific areas of businesses throughout New York State and the Northeast. Additionally, Ms. Natesan has worked in navigating very large commercial real estate transactions, including the purchase and sale of real property, rental/lease agreements, and bank representation.
Immediately following her graduation from law school, Shalini dedicated 8 years of her early career handling tax related matters for the prestigious international accounting firm of Ernst and Young. Her facile knowledge of the federal tax issues has proved instrumental in her success, providing legal advice on business related tax matters and addressing various taxation implications for The Towne Law Firm’s valued clients. With her adept navigation of intricate tax issues, Shalini brings a deep understanding of Tax Law to the table, enabling her to provide business clients with highly effective and tax-efficient strategies. By optimizing benefits and minimizing tax liabilities, she consistently delivers exceptional value and service to the businesses we serve.
Further, Shali has previous experience working on public finance transactions involving New York State agencies and authorities, industrial development agencies, local development corporations, municipalities and school districts. She also previously represented lenders in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 loan program.
Ms. Natesan is actively engaged with non-profit organizations, contributing her expertise in corporate matters and transactional work. Through her expertise, she has guided non-profits in navigating issues such as governance structuring, compliance with regulatory requirements, and strategic decision-making. Her adeptness in negotiating and drafting contracts, securing funding, and managing mergers and acquisitions within the not-for-profit sector has enabled these organizations to thrive and advance their missions.
Ms. Natesan is the President of the Albany County Bar Foundation. Her position on the Foundation’s Board allows her to donate her time and expertise to the community and service people in need by being a part of the decision-making process. Ms. Natesan has served on the Board for the last three years as the Secretary and Treasurer and her new role as President allows her to continue her path of leadership and service in the legal field.
Shali is active in the community as she contributes much of her time to a local non-profit organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region. Taking the role of a Big Sister, Shalini is a vital part of the organization’s mentoring program, as she volunteers to spend time with her “Little Sister” in order to make a positive impact on her growth and development as a responsible member of the community.
Shali is originally from Toronto and currently lives in Delmar with her family. She attended McMaster University in Hamilton, ON, where she earned an Honors B. Comm. with a Minor in Economics. Shali then attended Albany Law School where she received her J.D. with a concentration in Business Law.
